British sailor Will Harris (28) joined Team Malizia in 2019 and has been competing as co-skipper of Boris Herrmann in double-handed races such as the Fastnet Race 2019 and the Transat Jacques Vabre 2019. He has also been supporting the team as meteorologist, navigator and a speaker at events.
Will has two goals: to win the two most challenging ocean races. In 2023, he will compete as co-skipper in the toughest team race, The Ocean Race 2022-23. He then aims to follow up with the « Everest » of solo sailing, the Vendée Globe 2028-29, sailing nonstop around the world without assistance and being the first British sailor to win this iconic race.
He gained a lot of experience and an excellent reputation in the offshore sailing world as a navigator. Among his many achievements are wins in the 2021 Class 40 Fastnet Race, at the 2020 IRC 1 Overall Caribbean 600 and a 3rd place at the The Ocean Race Europe with Team AkzoNobel. During The Ocean Race 2022-23, he will took over the role of skipper for certain legs.
He was introduced to offshore sailing whilst being enrolled at University of Southampton studying Oceanography. Will regularly writes for a Yachts and Yachting column.
